George W Zengel

Private M.G. Co., 64th Infantry, 41st Division; entered service in July 1917 b enlisting in M.G. Co., 1st ND Inf, which later became M.G. Co, 164th Inf, 41st Division; trained at Camp Greene, N. Carolina, Camp Mills NY and Camp Merritt N.J.; overseas on Dec 15, 1917 on USS "Leviathan", landing in Liverpool, England on Dec 24, 1917 and later at Le Havre, France on Jan 1, 1918; after arrival in France he was transferred to 2nd M.G. Bn., 1st Division and with that unit saw active service in all of the major offensives during the spring and summer of 1918, including Cantigny, Soissons, St Mihiel and the Meuse-Argonne. In the latter action he was killed in action in October, 1918.
