Theodore Joseph Valerius

Sergeant "C" Co, 5th Field Battalion, Signal Corps; son of Mr Theodore Valerius (deceased) and Mrs Sabie Bennett; born at Crookston, Minn., Aug 13, 1892; graduated of Larimore N.D., High School; entered service April 10, 1917, 5 days after declaration of war; trained at Fort Leavenworth Kansas and was there assigned to 5th Field Battalion, Signal Corps; promoted from Private to Sergeant, Signal Corps, on Dec 1, 1917; he was stricken with pneumonia at Fort Leavenworth and died there from the effects of the affliction on Jan 4, 1918. To honor his death in the military service the American Legion post of Larimore is named The Ted Valerius Post No. 97 and he left a host of comrades in that city who will long remember him and his sacrifice in the service of his country.
