Paul Pecher

Private "B" Co., 2nd Machine Gun Battalion, 1st Division; adopted son of Paul Girard of Grand Forks and born at Chicago, Ill, Oct 22, 1897; entered service July 15, 1917 by enlisting in M.G. C., 1st N.D. Infantry which later became M.G. Co., 164th Inf, 41st Division; trained at Camps Green, Mills and Merritt; overseas Dec 15, 1917 on USS "Leviathan", landing in England Dec 24, 1917 and in France Jan 1, 1918; transferred after arrival in France to "B" Co., 2nd Macine Gun Bn., 1st Division with which organization he saw active combat service in the Toul offensive, Cantigny and the Aisne-Marne counter offensive; cited for bravery in action in general orders; wounded by enemy shell fire and later killed in action at Missy-aux-Bois, near Soissons on July 18, 1918.
