Private, M.G. Do., 164th Infantry, 41st Division; entered service in July, 1917 by enlisting in M.G. Co., 1st ND Inf., which later became M.G. Go, 164th Infantry, 4st Division; trained at Camp Greene, N. Carolina, Camp Mills, NY and Camp Merritt, NJ; overseas on USS "Leviathan" on Dec 5, 1917 and landed at Liverpool, England Dec 24, 1917 and later on Jan 1, 1918 at Le havre, France; shortly after his arrival in France he was transferred to the 2nd M.G. Bn., of the 1st Division and during the spring of 1918 saw active combat service at Cantigny and Soissons, at which latter engagement he was killed in action in July 1918.
