Finch, H A
$10.00
Souvenir Castle, 113th Engineers, Camp Shelby Mississippi, August 1918
Colonel H.A. Finch
Colonel finch succeeded Colonel J C Oakes in command of thr regiment on June 16, last (1917). He is a graduate of West Point (Class 1906) and has served with the U.S. Engineers in Cuba and the Philippines.
He was also with the Pershing expedition in Mexico in 1916-1917.
Before being assigned to the 113th, Colonel Finch saw service with the 2nd, the 5th, the 305th and the 317th Engineers--all of these regiments being now in that country where the 113th hopes soon to be.
Alternating with his military work, Colonel Finch has served on the Government Ohio River Improvement projects, at Lock No 31, Portsmouth, Ohio and at Lock No 39 near Vevay, Indiana.
Our commanding officer (of K.O.) was born 36 years ago (1882) in Texas. In spite of that fact he has a kindly feeling toward those from other states, and he shares in the prevailing belief that we will win the war (or that the sooner the 13th gets into action, the sooner the war will be over).
