Albert Glenn Bailey

Private M.G. Co., 164th Infantry, 41st (Sunset) Division; so of W.L.Bailey of Arvilla ND and born in Edgar County, Illinois, on Sept 14, 1891; entered service July 23, 1917 in M.G. Co., 164th Infantry of Grand Forks; trained at Camps Greene, Mills and Merritt; overseas Dec 15, 1917 on "Leviathan"; landed in England and later went to France arriving at Le Havre on Jan 1, 1918; sent to La Courtine at which point he was transferred to the 1st Brigade Machine Gun Battalion, of the 1st Division; saw active combat service with this unit and was instantly killed in action at 1:30 am on May 8, 1918. Private Bailey is believed to be the first man from Grand Forks to be killed in action in France.
